Two 22-floor buildings get green light from Yangon officials

The Yangon City Development Committee has given two private companies permission to construct two 22-floor buildings in Yangon, officials said.

Shwe Taung Company has received approval to construct a 22-floor building near Junction Square Centre in Kamayut Township and Mandalay Golden Wing Company has received approval to build another at the junction of West Horse Race Road and Sayasan Road in Bahan Township, officials said.

The buildings’ height will not exceed that of Shwedagon Pagoda, officials said.

The committee has also approved plans for the 27-floor Kabar Aye Executive Residence and is examining another 15 plans to build high-rise buildings, including a 44-floor tower, a 38-floor tower and a 27-floor tower.

Companies have also announced plans for new projects. Shwe Taung said it plans to build a 34-floor building between Bogyoke new market and the open air market. Aye Family Company said it will build Diamond Valley Rises Business Centre on Kabar Aye Pagoda road in Bahan Township. It will be a 27-floor tower comprising residential and office space.
