Trade liberalisation move sees license requirement dropped on over 300 goods

Traders will no longer have to apply for export and import licenses for more than 300 goods as of March, the Ministry of Commerce said.

A total of 152 export and 166 import commodities will be license-free, the ministry said.

Major export goods, such as beans and marine products are on the list. Export products are grouped into five categories: agricultural, industrial, forestry, CMP (cutting, making and packing) and animal products.

Major imports, such as electronic goods, foods and furniture, are also on the list of those not requiring licenses. However, staple food products like rice and oil are not.

An official from the Directorate of Trade said officials would discuss license-free of more goods and announce the list on April 1.
