Singapore firms continue to eye Myanmar

A business delegation from Singapore will arrive in Myanmar tomorrow for a five-day visit that will see executives from the nation meet ministerial staff to discuss investment opportunities in a range of industries, the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry said.

The nearly 40 executives are from construction, energy, electrical appliance, food and beverage, technology and services companies, a press release from the business group said.

The delegation will be led by the Singapore Manufacturing Federation.

Cumulative investment from the island nation in Myanmar reached US$2.166 billion at the end of January, making it the sixth largest investor in Myanmar, according to government figures.
