Fish exports falling short of target

Myanmar will not meet its marine-products export target of US$700 million for this fiscal year, the fish and fisheries products federation said, pointing to official figures for the first 11 months of the fiscal year.

The figures from the Fishery Department show that export of marine products totaled $581.819 million from the beginning of the fiscal year last April to February 24 this year.

Exports of crab and eel have exceeded their targets, but exports of freshwater shrimp and other fish have fallen short of target, official figures show.
