Myanmar in negotiation with S. Korea to send female workers

Myanmar is negotiating with South Korea about sending female workers under the Employment Permit System (EPS).

Once finalized the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security will pen agreement and send the female workers during fifth time recruitment, Thet Naing Oo, Deputy Director General of the Ministry said.


“The Ministry has its own guideline to send female workers abroad. If they want to appoint female employees, they have to hire two female employees at the same time. The company has at least five female employees,” he continued.

Moreover Win Myint, Managing Director of state owned employment agency said, “They are small and medium enterprises and they have restricted in recruitment. If they want to hire the female employees, they have to promise not to make them work as a servant. If not, their life is not safe,” he said.

The Ministry only officially allowed the female workers to work in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. Currently about 6,000 workers are working in South Korea under the EPS.

The fifth EPS exam will hold at May 18 and the applicants can submit their application forms in the mid March.
