Foreign companies showing greater interest in Myanmar aggriculture sector

Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese companies will invest in Myanmar’s agricultural sector, according to Myanmar Agribusiness Public Corporation Limited (MAPCO).


Although the Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) was signed with Japan and Vietnam for cooperation, the Republic of Korea has not signed the MoU yet.

Vietnamese company Vina Capital, MITSUI & Co; Ltd from Japan and MAPCO signed the MoU to cooperate tasks in Myanmar’s agricultural sector. So, Japanese company is planning arrangements to establish advanced rice gridding and purifying mills, Dr. Soe Tun of MAPCO said.

MAPCO is planning to establish the Integrated Food and Energy Production factories in Yangon, Ayeyarwaddy, Bago and Nay Pyi Taw.

The Integrated Food and Energy Production Complex factory will be located in Yangon region to be jointly constructed by Japanese company MITSUI & Co;Ltd and MAPCO.

Korean Dawoo company has not signed the MoU so far although the company is planning arrangements to implement the factory during this year.
