It was touched upon when Myanmar President U Thein Sein met with visiting US Senator James Mountain Inhofe in Nay Pyi Taw Wednesday, said the New Light of Myanmar.
The two sides reached consensus of promote bilateral cooperation in oil and gas, trade, agriculture, and energy sectors. They also agreed to enhance cooperation between the two armies, training Myanmar young army officers as well as further cementing relations between the two countries, the report said.
Inhofe is the first US parliamentarian coming to Myanmar after newly re-elected US President Barack Obama paid a brief historic working visit to the Southeast Asian nation in November 2012.
During his visit in Yangon, Obama topped his discussions with U Thein Sein on matters of bilateral relations and Myanmar's democratic reform, emphasizing on cooperation for the perpetuation of the improved relations based on mutual respect, sympathy and understanding.
