Thai businesspersons will visit Myanmar
to discuss investments in 16 major business sectors, according to the
statement by the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers
 of Commerce and Industry (RUMFCCI).
The Thai delegation, led by Phongask Assakul, chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, will arrive in Myanmar on December 17.
“They will discuss possible investments
in energy, banking, telecommunication, gems, rice exports, fishery
products, textiles, distribution, beverage and liquor, hotel,
transportation, education, and business-related media,” said an RUMFCCI
official.
Thai businesspersons are more interested in doing business in Myanmar after the enactment of the Foreign Investment Law.
“Four to five groups of Thai
businesspersons are arriving at the embassy every day. They are now
seeking business opportunities in this country. Business cooperation
between the two countries and Asean-Myanmar business cooperation are
also attractive for them,” said Pisanu Suvanajata, Thailand’s ambassador
 to Myanmar.
