Myanmar in countdown mode

YANGON, 27 December 2012: Myanmar will host its first New Year Countdown from 1700 to midnight 31 December at Minor Myo Ma Grounds in Yangon.

The New Year Countdown will be organised by Thailand’s Index Creative Village responsible for the AIS Bangkok Countdown2013 @ Central World. It is working with Forever Group, a media company in Myanmar.


According to Index Creative Village founder and co-CEO, Kreingkrai Kanjanapokin, the group would spend Bt35 million to host an estimated 50,000 people at the event.

Artists and celebrities in Myanmar will attend the event that will culminate with a mega firework display against the backdrop of the Shwedagon pagoda and city skyline.

The companies are confident that if the event is successful it will become a permanent calendar event in the commercial capital, Yangon.
