Myanmar Agribusiness Public
Corporation Limited (MAPCO) will build five factories to produce
value-added rice and rice-related goods, and it has invited tenders for
machine import, officials of the MAPCO said.
One industrial unit will be comprised of sub-factories such as steamed rice mill, white rice mill and vermicelli factories.
The industrial unit will be built at a
cost of US$ 40 million. The construction of the five industrial units
will cost almost US$200 million.
The MAPCO will jointly implement the project in collaboration with companies from Japan and Vietnam.
Plans are already underway to start the construction in two sites, one in Yangon and one in Nay Pyi Taw.
The MAPCO has already invited tenders for machine import for the five factories. Eleven companies have submitted applications.
The MAPCO will make final selection for a
partner company at the end of December and it will continue working
together with the tender winning company, the officials said.
