Myanmar’s Ministry of Mines will jointly undertake a geological survey 
with a Chinese company to explore deposits of nickel in Chin state, one 
of the least developed states in Myanmar, according to the ministry. The
 location is said to be in an area named “Mway Taung” (“Mountain of 
Snake”) in Tiddim township of the state. The exact date for the survey 
was not reported. 
The survey will jointly be conducted by the Department of Geological Survey and Mineral Explorer under the ministry, and North Mining Investment Company from China, it said.
A Joint coordination committee was formed recently, consisting of three representatives from the Myanmar side and two representatives from the Chinese company.
The committee will also conduct joint discussions concerning the survey.
