Yangon will hold the first food expo of Myanmar, named “Int’l Food and Machinery Expo 2013” in coming January 24 to 27.
Top 30 local companies and those 165 
international companies under Japan Food Manufacturing and Machinery 
Association (FOOMA) will display both famous traditional foods and a 
variety of international ones during the expo.
The big event at Tatmadaw Hall in 
downtown Yangon will also show food machinery, packing equipments, food 
services and related accessories, kitchen utensils, furniture, cooking 
materials and training courses.
“Our main purpose is to integrate the 
local and international food manufacturers, creating a larger market. It
 may improve the exchange of goods and technologies,” said Dr. Zarni 
Maung, managing director of Myanmar Professional Service Company.
He also explained that Myanmar can now 
export only raw materials for food, and he is confident that adopting 
international standard quality control and packing systems will enhance 
local food manufacturers’ capabilities and help Myanmar foods penetrate 
the international markets.
Guests to the expo will be offered to 
taste various foods and snacks, as well as attractive discounts on 
goods. An industrial tour will also be organized for the guests.
Entertainments by models from Japan, Singapore, Russia, Taiwan and Hong Kong will be included in the program.
The food expo is organized by Myanmar 
Professional Service Company, a local company which provides consultancy
 and other business services.
