Myanmar’s Department of Civil
Aviation announced that seven companies qualified in the first phase of
tender for the upgrade of Mandalay International Airport.
Among 16 applicants, the seven companies
were chosen based on financial resource, experience records, technical
know-how and the use of equipments.
The seven main companies are
Mitsubishi-Jalux in association with SPA (Japan), Munich Urban Forntier
Aung Myanmar Essar (Germany), ITNL International Pte.,Ltd (Singapore),
China Habour Engineering Co.,Ltd (China), AVIC International Holding
Corporation (China) and VINCI Airport (France).
SPA Project Management Ltd, Aung Myanmar
Technology Company Limited, Htoo Construction Group Co., Ltd, Asia
World Co., Ltd, Shwe Than Lwin Co., Ltd, Shwe Taung Development Co., Ltd
and First Myanmar Investment Co., Ltd were the local companies included
in the shortlist.
“We intend to upgrade the Mandalay
International Airport into the Airport Logistic Hub where international
cargo planes can fly. We’ll invite the second tender soon”, said an
official from Dept of Civil Aviation.
The prequalification of the companies
considered the master plan of airport development, airport services for
passengers, building services, expanding the airport structure and
apron.
