Myanmar will hold the US-Myanmar Trade and Investment Relationship: The Path Forward Conference in Yangon on February 25, 2013.
Held at the head office of the Republic 
of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry 
(RUMFCCI), “this conference will be the very first economic forum for US
 and Myanmar. The event will be co-organised by RUMFCCI and US Chamber 
of Commerce," Zaw Min Win, vice chairman of the RUMFCCI, said.
The conference will focus on Myanmar’s 
economic development priorities and objectives, explore opportunities to
 expand US-Myanmar trade and investment in key business sectors, and 
forge bilateral business partnerships.
According to RUMFCCI, leading Myanmar 
business executives, their US counterparts and those from around the 
Asean region, government officials, development specialists and 
academics will attend the conference and discuss a wide range of issues,
 including boosting investment, propelling economic growth and 
integrating Myanmar into the Asean, Asian and global economy.
Myanmar investors are preparing to 
cooperate with the US in developing teak and wood products, and they 
hope the US will bring more employment opportunities, said Zaw Min Win.
Myanmar investors are also interested in
 exporting furnished wood products to Europe and the US, which will be 
the main focus of Myanmar investors in the upcoming US-Myanmar 
Conference, he said.
As of September 2012, the US has invested US$243.57 million in Myanmar.
